The Wren

On November 18, 2012 after an in-service and being home sick, I decided to start a blog.  I will admit there was some peer pressure involved.  It seemed like all the "good" teachers had blogs and read blogs and as a young teacher, I wanted to fit in. It has been almost five years since this journey has started. The layout, design and hosting site has changed many times.  I have tried daily blog challenges and I have tried doing weekly updates.  The focus of the blog has shifted as my career and personal life has changed over the years. Becoming a wife and mother has changed my perspective in many ways and my posts reflect that change in many ways. The one thing that has not changed is my mission.  I want to help people. I want to help people in the "real" world and online. I hope that sharing my reflections, ideas, lessons, resources and tools can help others. I also want to get better everyday. Writing helps me process and reflect on my experiences.  It is through these reflections that I am able to learn and grow. Sharing ideas and reflections also makes the long hours and work more worth my time and energy. It seems foolish to learn something and not share it will others.

Vision Statement:
The concept behind this blog is to provide a space to share my reflections and classroom ideas: lessons, design, tools and tips. I do not consider myself a great teacher, but I make strides everyday to get better and I believe I still have valuable information and experiences to share (as we all do).

Mission Statement:
My mission is to help people. I share ideas, reflections and information with the hope of helping others.  As the name implies, this is Wren's World.  It is my world.  My world is not limited to my classroom. I am a Christian, a wife, a mom, a reader, a runner, a coach, a musician, a daughter and a friend.  This blog will touch on issues that relate to all of these areas because all of these areas touch my life.
